The Yarrabilba Cane Toads are still on the search for a small number of senior cricket players to join the first ever representative cricket team to come out of Yarrabilba and play in the Last Man Stands Beaudesert competition.
The next season of the Last Man Stands Beadesert season is scheduled to begin on Sunday 19th April 2020, with the bulk of the matches played at Glenlogan Park in Jimboomba, weather dependent, with Cricket Yarrabilba looking at interest from senior players to enter a team into the competition more as a friendly ‘get to know’ each other opportunity than to be overly competitive considering the lack of training facilities current available.
“We all know the Cricket Oval is coming, and that according to sketches and drawings is meant to have nets,” recently elected Association President Brendon McCoy said.
“Eventually we will have the facilities and equipment where we can change the focus in an attempt to be a little more competitive on the field, but in the mean time for us it is all about offering the opportunity to play cricket and getting some of the guys together to meet each other and have a little bit of a hit.”
Last Man Stands cricket has taken the world by storm, what once started as a humble variant of cricket has blown up into a world wide success with World Cups being held and massive cash money prizes on offer overseas.
The basics of the game is that there are eight players per team, and ultimately your team is not out unless ALL batsmen have been dismissed or you have faced your allotted 20 overs.
In recent times the Beaudesert competition has seen some massive scores, individual feats, and tight contests and the plan by Cricket Yarrabilba is to have a team representing the Yarrabilba Cane Toads in among the mix next season.
Registration fees for Last Man Stands are $50 per player, and then $15 each week to cover umpire fee’s. This registration will get you umpires at every game, new balls for every game, the match live scored on the internet, your player stats and team rankings online up against players from around the world, a T20 styled colored shirt, and an end of season ‘Get together’.
Cricket Yarrabilba are only able to accept 10 player nominations and spaces are filling quick.
