The Yarrabilba Cricket Association, more widely known under their playing moniker the Yarrabilba Cane Toads, have worked their way into a position to open sponsorship opportunities that include the currently on-going Winter cricket seasons, and the upcoming summer season.
The Yarrabilba Cricket Association began operating in 2020, in what was a tough and challenging year for the world with the rampant global pandemic providing an uncertain future. While the association suffered from the setback of players who had previously expressed an interest – no longer being able to play.
Sponsors were also hit with the economic downturn as a result of the pandemic putting some previously negotiated sponsorships in jeopardy, and unfortunately some to fall through as local businesses struggled with continued lockdowns and restrictions.
Thankfully with the support of Absolute Physio & Rehab Yarrabilba, McDonalds Yarrabilba, and the Logan Village and Jimboomba branches of the Bendigo Bank as main sponsors, as well as unwaivering support from Yarrabilba’s Number One Real Estate Agent – according to RateMyAgent.com.au – Alan Kuss who backed the vision for a Yarrabilba-based side entered into the Last Man Stands Beaudesert competition.
In addition to the main sponsors smaller businesses across the region were provided with the opportunity to get involved in sport sponsorships which saw Domestic Bliss Carpet Cleaning, Yarrabilba Bulletin, GenY Enterprises Australia, Minuteman Press Slacks Creek, Oz-Cover Quality Steel Buildings, Techno Solar, Affordable Electrical Solutions and Fail Me Not Tutoring all come on board to support the newly fledged club.
All of our sponsors were placed on the training shirts, which have been proudly worn to and from our sides matches, and for their designed purpose of being a training shirt.
As a new club, still on the up, we remain cautious of the costs involved in sponsoring, and that despite the current trend of low recorded numbers of the ongoing global pandemic that we are not out of the woods yet and that local businesses are still struggling.
This became one of the focus points while working out sponsorship opportunities for our upcoming season – in which we have moved from a season based sponsorship platform, to an annually based process to assist in covering both Summer & Winter cricket competitions that the Yarrabilba Cane Toads have teams representing the region in.
While doing so the Yarrabilba Cricket Association have also taken into account an impressive on-field performance from our teams, as well as an interest to grow our game throughout Yarrabilba and the Logan-region as a whole.
In 2020 the Yarrabilba Cane Toads Division One side reached the finals of the Logan District Cricket Association (LDCA) competition, however wet weather prevented any of the finals matches to be played which saw the Cane Toads eliminated in the first week.
The same side joined their Last Man Stands counterparts at the Last Man Stands Beaudesert Annual T10 tournament where both sides made the finals playoffs, the Div 1 boys eventually going down to their LMS club mates – who went on to fall in the Plate Final played under lights.
The Alan Kuss backed Yarrabilba Cane Toads LMS side had a horror start to their season, however confidence from the aforementioned LMS Beaudesert T10 tournament, looked to turn the tables for the Cane Toads LMS side as they first qualified for – and then won the Plate.
Both sides are currently competing in their respective competitions Winter formats.
